The Corps has open enrollment all year. The ability to read music is preferred but not required. Music lessons for fife, drum, and instructions for color guard/musket are provided free of charge. The recruitment period, which varies in length based on ability, consists of learning the basics of the instruments and progresses through the memorization and mastery of fundamentals and then approximately 10-12 Level 1 songs. Once mastered and tested membership is granted and uniform/equipment is issued.
Uniforms - Uniforms are provided at no cost and remain the property of the corps. The exception to this is the white shirt worn and a pair of black shoes. Drums, Flags, and Muskets are provided by the corps, as are fifes, however, fifers are encouraged to purchase their fife from the Corps.
Travel - The Corps travels throughout the year to historical reenactments, military functions, patriotic events, and local events. Most travel expenses are covered by the Corps.
Practice - The Corps practices year -round on Monday evenings from 6:00-8:00pm. Spring through Fall, weather permitting, they practice in Frontier Park in St. Charles. Winter and rain-out practice locations vary. Contact the Corps for questions regarding current practice locations.
